Daily Prayers
Each day the children say a variety of prayers at St. Vincent Elementary School. I have had a few parents ask for copies of the prayers so that they can pray with their children or use the version of a prayer that the children have learned. Here are a few prayers that you might find useful.
August Prayer: Act of Contrition
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. Ih his name, my God, have mercy. Amen
September Prayer: Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen
October: Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
November Prayer: The Morning Offering
Dear God, as I begin this day, keep me in your love and care. Help me to live as your child today. Bless me, my family, and my friends in all we do. Keep us close to you. Amen.
December Prayer: Hail, Holy Queen
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, Most Gracious Advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of the womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
January Prayer: Glory Be
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and forever shall be, world without end. Amen.
February Prayer: Vocation Prayer
God, I know you will call me for special work in my life. Help me follow Jesus each day and be ready to answer your call. Amen.
March Prayer: Prayer of the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth. O God, who instructed the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to relish what is right and always rejoice in your consolation, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
April Prayer: Angel of God
Angel of God, my Guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
May Prayer: The Memorare
Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petition, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen
