Spanish Club

Purpose

The purpose of the Spanish Club is to provide the opportunity to our students to expand their knowledge on our Spanish Culture and bring something extra of the Spanish-speaking world into our classes. Indeed, it will bring a completely new aspect of the Hispanic culture and traditions to student's lives through activities at school, cultural trips (dances), and celebrating Spanish traditions.

Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos): Month of November

November 1 marked the beginning of the Hispanic Holiday Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, which combines the Christian feast days of All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day. This Mexican-American holiday celebrates the lives of our dearly departed.

The advanced Spanish classes placed a modified Ofrenda, or offering altar, in the gym lobby, complete with paper candles. Anyone was welcome to add their beloved, if they wish to write their name or names on a candle and add it to the display.

A+ Scholarship Program

Missouri Legislature passed that private/parochial schools may now participate in the A+ Scholarship Program.  A student that meets the criteria may have their college tuition paid for toward a junior college or technical/trade school.  The law goes into effect on August 28, 2016.  Our students may not start participating until we become a ‘Designated School.”  We will receive information in late September (from DESE and MDHE) on the process of becoming a Designated School.   We will keep you informed of the process and exactly when our students may start their tutoring hours. Click the link for more information on the A+ Program
