Student of the Month

Faculty selected, each month a senior is honored as Student of the Month.  Sponsored by the Perryville Elks, the student receives a $100 check toward their college education, their picture in the newspaper, and an invitation to the Elks Awards Banquet in May.  Thank you to the Perryville Elks for sponsoring such a great program!
 

   
September, 
Ben Kirn
The St. Vincent High School Elks Student of the Month Award goes to Benjamin Kirn for the month of September. Ben is the son of Henry and Jennifer Kirn of Perryville. Ben is President of the SVHS Band, Vice President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Treasurer of the Senior Class. He is also a National Honor Society member and a Track and Field athlete. Ben has many hours of service in Vacation Bible School, Operation Overhaul, Parish picnics and fish fries, and as an Altar Server. Ben’s Calculus Teacher, Mr. John McLain, states, “Ben is one of the most good-natured students at our school. He works hard in class and is always willing to help a teacher or classmate in need. He is a delight to have in calculus class.” Ben plans to attend college and major in Engineering.

Jacob Hennemann
The St. Vincent High School Elks Student of the Month Award goes to Jacob Hennemann for the month October. Jacob is the son of Jim and Sara Hennemann of Perryville. Jacob is a four year athlete on the football and baseball teams. He shows leadership as St. Vincent de Paul Service Society President and Student Council Senior Class Vice President. He is a four year member of Band and attended Missouri Boys State. Jacob has many service hours helping at parish events and is an Altar Sever for Mass. Mr. John McLain, Jacob’s Calculus teacher, states, “Jacob is a tremendously gifted student with a special ability to see and understand concepts at a deep level.  However, what has always impressed me about Jacob is his character. He treats his teachers and peers with incredible respect and is looked up to by classmates as a leader and role model. Jacob plans to major in Engineering.

Aiden Blessing
The St. Vincent High School Elks Student of the Month Award goes to Aiden  Blessing for the month of November. Aiden is the daughter of Christine Heine and Russell Blessing. Aiden leads at St. Vincent as a Captain of both Cheerleading and Color Guard, Vice President of the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club, and Secretary of National Honor Society. She is a 4-year member of Band and a 3-year member of Pep Club and Sodality. Aiden excels academically, earning ‘A’ Honor Roll. Mrs. Angela Hudson, the track coach and moderator of SADD, states, “Aiden is a conscientious student who cares strongly about doing her best in both her school work and extracurricular activities. She leads by example on the Track team and encourages her teammates to do the same.” Aiden will study to be an EMT and paramedic at Jefferson
College.
 
 December,
Gracie McKinney
The St. Vincent High School Elks Student of the Month  Award goes to Gracie McKinney for the month of  December. Gracie is the daughter of Sherry McKinney and  Jesse McKinney. Gracie is a 4-year member of Band and Sodality. Gracie  excels academically, earning ‘A’ Honor Roll; and she is a  member of National Honor Society. Gracie is also a  member of Art Club, Spanish Club, Pep Club, Students for  Life, and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions).  As well, Gracie holds a part-time job. Gracie is balanced  with academics, activities and work. Gracie’s college American History instructor, Nicole  Wibbenmeyer, states, “Gracie is a determined and  conscientious student. She gives her best effort in the  classroom and sets a great example of academic excellence  for the student body.” Gracie plans to study Cybersecurity at Murray State  University.  
January,
Clarice Garris
The St. Vincent High School Elks Student of the Month  Award goes to Clarice Garris for the month of January.  Gracie is the daughter of Jeremy and Rebecca Garris. Clarice leads at St. Vincent as the Secretary/Treasurer of  Sodality, Treasurer of National Honor Society, Vice  President of Spanish Club, Senior Class Secretary in Student  Council and Editor of the school newsletter in Publications.  Clarice excels academically, consistently earning ‘A’ Honor  Roll. Clarice is also a member of Art Club, Pep Club,  Students for Life, and SADD (Students Against Destructive  Decisions). As well, Clarice holds a part-time job as a  Pharmacy Technician, her chosen career path. Clarice’s Spanish Teacher, Sandra DeGuere, states, “Clarice  is responsible and organized. She is a top student in Spanish  class and has been a true leader! Clarice has a bright future  ahead.” Clarice will seek a Doctorate in Pharmacy.

Megan LeClere
The St. Vincent High School Elks Student of the Month Award goes to Megan LeClere for the month of February.  Megan is the daughter of David and Mary LeClere. Megan leads at St. Vincent as a Captain of the Cheerleading squad.  She is involved in many clubs—Sodality, Students for Life, Spanish Club and Art Club.  Megan is a Cross Country and Track athlete and a 4-year member of Band.  She also leads at our Luke 18 Retreat. Megan’s Religion Teacher, Mr. Brandon Roth states, “Megan is friendly and helpful.  She gets along with her classmates and teachers.  She is a hard worker and cares about her studies. Megan is not afraid to ask questions in her classes to learn more about the subject matter.  “Megan will major in Exercise Science at Murray State University, on her path to a Doctorate in Chiropractic.  She will also minor in Equine Science.

Grant Abernathy

The St. Vincent High School Elks Student of the Month Award goes to Grant Abernathy for the month of March. Grant is the son of Scott and Jill Abernathy of Perryville. Grant is a four year athlete on the basketball and baseball teams. He shows leadership as the Treasurer of Student Council and the Treasurer of Spanish Club. He is a four year member of Band and attended Missouri Boys State. He is a member of national Honor Society and on the A Honor Roll. Grant also has many service hours helping at parish events. Mr. John McLain, Grant’s Calculus teacher, states, “Whether Grant is getting students excited at pep rallies or going all out on the baseball field or basketball court, he brings so much life to not only the senior class but our entire school. In class, Grant sets a great balance to having fun while also looking deeply toward understanding the material we are learning.” Grant plans to major in Computer Engineering at the University of Missouri.

2025 HOMECOMING UPDATE

Due to a recent Football Conference realignment, the 2024 Homecoming football games for both the Perryville Pirates and the St. Vincent Indians have been rescheduled. 
 
- St. Vincent will play their homecoming football game vs the Cuba Wildcats on Friday, October 11th at 7:30 PM.
 
- Perryville will play their homecoming football game vs the Herculaneum Blackcats on Saturday, October 19th at 1:00 PM.
 
Please stay tuned to both schools as they send other updates for their homecoming weekends.
