5/22 - Celebration of Norma Bauwen's Life

St. Vincent Junior/Senior High School:

As many of you already know, our faithful servant of St. Vincent, Mrs. Norma Bauwens passed away yesterday. She literally served us all in the cafeteria of St. Vincent Junior/Senior High, for 30+ years! We each have memories of Ms. Norma in the cafeteria line at SV, and it is hard to imagine going thru the line without her swiping our card and getting some motherly (or grandmotherly) advice from her. Her kindness to us and her dedication to St. Vincent is immeasurable; her faith a witness to all.

For those of you that are able to attend any of the following events, we will gather as a school community to celebrate Ms. Norma’s life and to pray for her and her family. Parents attending, please join us.

Visitation – Meet outside of SV church by 9:45 for the 10:00 am Visitation. Please bring your lunch card, to drop in a basket, in Norma’s memory. I have included the tribute from the Alumni Page below, explaining this.

Mass – Meet by 2:15 for the 2:30 mass. As a school, we will sit together for the Mass in the east wing of church. Ms. Norma was a faithful attender of Mass, so singing and fully participating would bring her great joy.

Honor Guard – Right after mass, we will continue our tradition of lining the streets during the funeral procession from church. We will line up on Rosati and onto Zeno. Please remain quiet and reverent at this time.

What to Wear to Visitation and Mass – Norma’s life was the epitome of JOY—Serving Jesus, Others, Yourself. Students and Faculty, please wear your JOY shirt (or uniform shirt) and khaki pants.

As we participate in our Catholic Funeral Traditions, let us celebrate Ms. Norma’s life, pray for her soul and her family, and support each other in our loss. Ms. Norma will be greatly missed.

From SV Alumni Page
Tribute to Norma: One Last Swipe for Norma
“I have talked with the family and would love to do a tribute to Norma. Since Norma was the one that swiped the kids’ cards every day, why not one more swipe from the kids. There will be a basket up by the casket for all kids to put their old lunch card in to pay respect. There will be a sign on the basket. This way if family steps away or can’t remember who all came through they can look at the lunch cards. It doesn’t have to be this year’s card; any will do. And if kids that already graduated still have their cards, have them bring it. I know she would love it!”
